The White Cliffs of Dover
The White Cliffs of Dover need little introduction. Instantly recognisable and steeped in history, they also offer the visitor a choice of walks and, on a clear day, amazing views. My visit was on a warm but hazy day, so it was not possible to see France (despite the message from my phone company welcoming me there!) and, as I watched, the boats leaving the port rapidly disappeared from sight. Although the school holidays were over, the Cliffs were busy, full of people enjoying some September sunshine. I joined many of them in walking from the car park and visitor centre to South Foreland Lighthouse.
